Maritime Burnham is a local organisation that is trying to protect Burnham’s maritime heritage, including its boatyards and jetties, on the grounds that so much of the old maritime Burnham has been lost that what remains should be at least protected and at best restored.

Sadly, the jetties, which often provided excellent mooring for visiting boats, have been allowed to fall into disrepair.

The jetties were, in October and November 2018, further dismantled by the Crouch Harbour Authority, who said they were acting on the owners’ behalf and in the interest of health and safety.
