Fireworks used to be ignited on the south shore. Now they are set off from a raft in the middle of the river. © 2019 Nick Skeens

The people of Burnham, via Burnham Town Council, put on a wonderful display of fireworks at the end of each Burnham Week.

The fireworks are now launched from a raft in the middle of the river, more or less opposite the White Harte, and they always look, and sound, spectacular.

At this time of the year it is usually dark by 9pm, which is when they tend to start.

The Fireworks are organised by Burnham Week Ltd (formerly the Joint Clubs Committee or JCC).  The Town Council makes a major contribution to the cost of the fireworks.

The Quay is usually lined with people watching the display. together with the local pubs and clubs.

They really are a beautiful spectacle, and seem to get more spectacular with each year that passes.
