Burnham has its own sewage farm, which is to the east of the town, near Rice & Cole boatyard.
It is run by Anglian Water and is now called a Water Recycling Centre.
In an easterly wind, especially in a summer sea breeze, the facility has sometimes given off an unpleasant smell.
This situation has improved in recent years.
