Burnham Beach is on West Quay beyond the houseboats there.
It is only suitable for swimming around high tide.
Burnham Town Council does not own the beach, but is working with Maldon District Council in an effort to get more sand put there so it can be used for longer before and after high water.
The beach is slightly marred by a metal ladder and concrete surround at its eastern end, near the mole, that serves the sluice draining the stream that runs through Riverside Park.
