Local volunteers have got together to improve the BMX facility in Riverside Park.
The current facility, made in 2007 via cooperation between a user group, the Friends of the Riverside Park, Burnham Town Council and Maldon District Council, is getting very tired and can be dangerous to ride on.
BMX is now an Olympic sport and the current track needs upgrading to give local youngsters a chance of improving their skills.
The group tried to form a small social enterprise to attract funding, but, as of March 2021, Maldon District Council is promising Section 106 funding – from profits made by housing developers – to fund the scheme.
